The CC 2015 suite brings many new features, sometimes amazing, but many not very relevant to photographers; however if you want to update just now you should follow our survival tips to avoid issues like loosing your scripts and incompatible apps.
To reinstall the lost third party apps you will not be able to use Adobe Extension Manager\u00a0 (the app used by Adobe to uninstall) as it has been discontinued. You will find here how to install manually and, if you want, reinstall the deleted versions of Photoshop.<\/p>\n

Some tips to avoid a titanic job to recover your apps.<\/h3>\n

1. Before to update make a copy your script folder as the third party apps script will not be copied and the previous installers based on Adobe Extension Manager that is no longer supported by CC 2015<\/strong> will no longer work.\u00a0
Even\u00a0if you copy the script some of the apps will not work on CC 2105. For example\u00a0the popular PPW panel, by Dan Margulis and Giuliana Abbiati will no longer work.<\/p>\n

2. If possible update\u00a0CC 2015 on a secondary computer to try it out.<\/p>\n

3. Don’t update your CC 2014 version but add CC 2015, keeping both versions. Take care because this option is not well visible.
DO NOT PRESS THE BLUE UPDATE BUTTON<\/strong> unless you want to remove the old versions.<\/p>\n

As you can see in the following\u00a0image, opening the “Advanced Options” submenu, by default your preferences and settings are imported and previous versions deleted.<\/p>\n

So you need to\u00a0uncheck the “Remove old versions” option, then click “Update”. Photoshop CC 2015 will be installed along\u00a0with the older versions.<\/p>\n

How to reinstall the older\u00a0versions of Photoshop.<\/h3>\n

Did you already update and your previous versions have been deleted? No problem! You can reinstall them.<\/p>\n

Step 1. Go in the main Creative Cloud window. Go \u00a0to “FIND ADDITIONAL APPS”\u00a0and click on the blue arrow near the blue “Previous Version”. Do not confuse this\u00a0with the previous main line that\u00a0also is called “PREVIOUS VERSION”<\/p>\n

After\u00a0clicking on the small blue arrow, scroll down to the “FILTER APPS BY” menu until you arrive to the blue “VIEW PREVIOUS VERSION”. Click on it and go to the last step.<\/p>\n

Now open\u00a0the “Install” submenu next Photoshop and select the version you want to install choosing from CS6, CC, CC2014 and install.<\/p>\n

Nice! But I can’t see most of my apps in CC 2015.<\/h3>\n

The reason is that\u00a0third party scripts are not copied in the updating process.
For example, ALCE’s panel is copied but not the script, so ALCE will work as a panel, but not as a script.\u00a0To fix this issue follow this procedure.<\/p>\n

Case 1: your CC 2014 is still installed. Go to the folder “Scripts”of CC 2014\u00a0which is\u00a0located in:
MAC(2014):\u00a0Macintosh HD\/Applications\/Adobe Photoshop CC2014\/Presets\/Scripts
WIN(2014)\u00a064 bit: \u00a0C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CC2014 (64 Bit)\\Presets\\Scripts<\/em><\/span>
<\/em>and copy all the single .jsx files or folder that you see in CC 2014 and not in 2015 in\u00a0the CC 2015 scripts folder:
MAC(2015:\u00a0Macintosh HD\/Applications\/Adobe Photoshop CC2015\/Presets\/Scripts

Case 2: have installed CC 2015 deleting CC 2014 but previously made a copy of the folder scripts.
Copy the same files in
MAC(2015:\u00a0Macintosh HD\/Applications\/Adobe Photoshop CC2015\/Presets\/Scripts
WIN(2015)\u00a064 bit: \u00a0C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CC2015 (64 Bit)\\Presets\\Scripts<\/em><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Last but not least.. restart Photoshop.<\/p>\n

Great!\u00a0But unfortunately some apps no longer work.<\/h3>\n

This\u00a0means that some of the functions of CC 2014 are no longer available in 2015.
For example, ALCE, Double USM etc, work simply copying the scripts for other apps, like Wow! and VitaminBW, we released new compatible versions.<\/p>\n

I kept\u00a0CC 2014, but after the upgrade some apps no longer work in CC 2014 either.<\/h3>\n

This is because some folder or libraries\u00a0are shared between the two versions and\u00a0CC 2015 may delete them: For instance the folder CEP\/extensions.
This means that apps perfectly working on CC 2014 no longer work and this is\u00a0why we suggest , when possible to install CC 2015 in secondary computer first.<\/p>\n

I’m trying to install manually an extension but I can’t find the folder “CEP”.<\/h3>\n

The update process should have copied the extension properly. But often this don’t happen and the folder “CEP” containing a subfolder “extensions” don’t exist in your library. You must create both them manually. The correct path is:
WIN: C:\\\\AppData\\Roaming\\Adobe\\CEP\\extensions
MAC:\u00a0User Library\/Application Support\/Adobe\/CEP\/extensions<\/em>
In MAC the (user) folder Library by default is hidden. To reveal it go to Finder\/Go menu and press the ALT key.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
